Red House EXHIBITION THEMES FOR 2026 - 2027

ALL 2-D and 3-D MEDIUMS ARE WELCOMED

NOTE: Wall art is not to exceed 1296 square inches, including the frame (outer frame size).  This is the equivalent of 36"x36", though works may be longer in one dimension if the total area does not exceed 1296sqin. No easel frames, no exceptions.  There is a weight limit of 15 pounds maximum for wall-hung artwork and 20 pounds for 3-D work on pedestals. To enter the Juried Show in July 2027, members must have participated in a minimum of two of the five shows from September 2026 to June 2027.  

September - November 2026

"Rooted in Place" – We invite you to reflect on the deep connections between people, community, and the landscape of the mountains. This theme encourages work inspired by local traditions, natural surroundings, and shared histories—capturing the spirit, resilience, and identity that come from being grounded in these mountains and our culture.

November 2026 - January 2027

“Light and Shadow” - Explore the powerful interplay between illumination and darkness as a means of expression. This theme encourages experimentation with contrast, whether through literal depictions or symbolic interpretations. Artists are asked to consider how light and shadow define space, reveal emotion, or evoke mystery.

January – March 2027 – “Elements”
 

Inspired by earth, air, fire, and water, this exhibition invites artists to interpret the fundamental forces of nature in literal or abstract ways.

March – May 2027 – “Up Close”

A study of detail and perspective. This exhibit highlights macro views, close cropping, and intimate compositions that reveal what might otherwise go unnoticed.

May – July 2027 – “Nature’s Whisper”
 

A celebration of the natural world, from grand vistas to intimate details. This exhibit encourages artists to interpret nature’s beauty, fragility, and resilience, highlighting environmental awareness or personal connections to the land.

July 2027 – September 2027 – Annual Members’ Juried Exhibition
 

This annual showcase invites qualified members to submit their best works for discerning evaluation and acceptance by our juror. This juried event not only highlights the mastery of our members but also fosters a culture of artistic growth and appreciation within our vibrant community.

This theme focuses on change—physical, emotional, environmental, or spiritual. Artists may interpret transformation through growth, decay, renewal, or metamorphosis in any subject or style.

November 2027 – January 2028 – “Moments in Light”
 

This exhibition explores the fleeting and transformative qualities of light—sunrise, dusk, reflections, and shadows. Artists are invited to capture how light shapes mood, atmosphere, and perception, whether through landscapes, interiors, or abstract interpretations.
