Zachary Clark

Executive Director

Zachary Clark has worked in the youth development, education, and arts sectors throughout the United States. As the Executive Director of 826DC, an award-winning arts-based literacy education program based in DC, Zachary focused on building a sustainable human-centered work culture, ensuring thoughtful and values-driven budget growth, and leading program innovations that prioritize accessibility, inclusion, and imagination. Prior to his work with 826DC, he served as the Director of Early Learning at Sitar Arts Center and developed arts programming with Freedom School Partners, Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, and the Cabarrus Arts Council.

A practicing visual artist with a background in museum and gallery management, Zachary holds an Ed.M. in Arts Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a B.A. in American Literature and Visual Arts from Brown University, and certification in nonprofit management from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy. Zachary is a fan of baking, writing flash fiction, and hosting parties of all sorts. 

Shreya Basu

Studio Assistant

Shreya/ shurjo mukhi, Part-time Studio Assistant, is a learning and growing multimedia artist invested in community building and organizing. They see art as a powerful tool of individual and collective healing and reflection and strongly believe in the mission of Art Enables! In the past, they have worked on collaborative, community-based, art-centered projects with organizations like Lavender Phoenix, API Domestic Violence Resource Project, SMYAL, and Shout Mouse Press. They are committed to grounding their art practice and facilitation in anti-racist, caste abolitionist, disability justice, and LGBTQ+ liberation movements. They hope to bring their past experiences in supporting the studio space and artists at Art Enables. In their spare time, they enjoy reading graphic novels, spending time in the sun, and eating good food with friends. 

Amy Kitchin

Operations Manager & Community Partnerships Coordinator

Amy Kitchin, Operations Manager and Community Partnerships Coordinator has a BFA in Visual Arts from Calvin College (Grand Rapids, MI) and an MS in Arts Administration from Boston University (Boston, MA). She comes to Art Enables after working for performing arts organizations, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Washington Chorus, and the New Orchestra of Washington. While living in Boston, Amy worked at the Boston Lyric Opera, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Institute of Contemporary Art-Boston, and MIT. She also taught collage and design at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. She is a contributing artist to the instruction book, Collage for the Soul: Expressing Hopes and Dreams Through Art. Amy currently exhibits her work with the Del Ray Artisans Gallery in Alexandria, VA, and continues to refine her printmaking skills in classes at the Torpedo Factory’s Art League.

Toni Lane

Studio Art Coordinator

Toni Lane, Studio Art Coordinator, is an incredibly accomplished artist, arts educator, and all-around wonderful person. Toni has been creating and making beautiful art at Art Enables since 2013 as an Art Enables artist. Toni brings her amazing talent, passion for making art, and joyful spirit to the team to support all aspects of the studio and studio experience. Toni owned and operated her own gallery and studio in San Francisco for nine years before moving to Marseille, France, where she taught art and worked on her own art for the next six years. A native Washingtonian, Toni returned to DC after her time in France. Toni remains focused on her own artistic pursuits while supporting and mentoring other emerging artists. Toni is a proud graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute.

Marissa Long

Gallery Director & Curator

Marissa Long, Gallery Director & Curator, comes to Art Enables in 2020 with 15 years of experience in the arts as a gallery manager, exhibitions and program coordinator, curator, educator, and entrepreneur. In the past, she has worked with Transformer, a non-profit supporting and promoting emerging artists, as Assistant Director of an art consulting firm, and as a volunteer with the non-profit Museum of Science Fiction, where she served as Director of Special Exhibitions and Programs. From 2011 - 2019, she ran her own business that provided original, award-winning arts programming for elementary school kids all over the DC/metro area. Marissa is an artist herself, working in photography, sculpture, and other media, and is a current artist in residence at MoCA Arlington. She holds a BFA from the Corcoran College of Art + Design. Originally from Pennsylvania, Marissa currently lives in Arlington, VA, with her husband and one very sweet cat.

Austin Morris

Arts Program Administrator

Austin D. Morris is a visual artist and creative professional, currently based in Washington, D.C. Growing up, he found solace in creating art that reflected the way his reality bent and curved inside his head. Completely self -taught, Austin overcame inaccessibility to art supplies by expressing himself through different mediums - whichever he could get his hands on. He continues this tradition by working across artistic disciplines.
 

In his recent work, Austin infuses deep-rooted nostalgia, afrocentric concepts, and a personal story of a Black kid in pursuit of a prosperous Black future. Through his artwork, he aims to explore and challenge societal misconceptions and highlight the beauty and complexity of Black culture.

Courtney Smith

Director of Development and Communications

Courtney Smith, Director of Development and Communications, has a B.S. in Communications from East Carolina University. Originally from North Carolina, Courtney has called Washington, D.C., home since 2011. Before joining Art Enables, she spent several years at Friends of the National Zoo in marketing, communications, and fundraising. Courtney is active in the D.C. community, volunteering as an athletic partner with Special Olympics D.C. and a feline foster parent for the Humane Rescue Alliance. In her spare time, she enjoys cuddling with her sweet old hound dog, photography, embroidery, reading memoirs, and discovering the quirks of the city with her husband and daughter.

Aimee Wanner

Program Manager

Aimee Wanner, Program Manager, is a photographer, designer, and local advocate for the rights of people with disabilities.  She joins Art Enables after working as an Employment Specialist, where she supported transitioning youth in a job training program at the Smithsonian and engaged with businesses in the DMV area to find job placements for the program graduates. Aimee is currently part of the Human Relations Coalition in DC. Since 2013 she has been on the board of the Jersey City Museum as their Collections Chair, where she assists with writing grants, curating exhibits, and ensuring the safety of the collection. For more than ten years, Aimee has been an art educator for children ages 2-16 within the school and after-school programs. She has a BFA in Graphic Design from Manhattanville College and an MA in Museum Management from Montclair State University.
