My interest in painting interiors is partly fueled by a fascination with architectural elements, antiques, and fine furniture. But the true driving force is light—whether it streams through a window or softly glows from another source, it’s the mood it creates that draws me in. Years ago, I discovered the work of Walter Gay, whose richly painted European interiors inspired me to explore space and objects with a loose, expressive hand rather than a strictly illustrative approach. In my own work, color, form, brushwork, and light become the language of the interior, without being bound to realistic representation.
