Steven Stern founded Steven Stern Fine Arts while attending the University of California, Los Angeles. With a passion for American art and a clear vision for a more direct and efficient way to connect exceptional paintings with serious collectors, Mr. Stern built the gallery around a simple principle: offer high-quality works of art with expertise, discretion, and personal service.
Long before the online art market became commonplace, Mr. Stern recognized the potential of the internet as a powerful tool for presenting fine art to a broader audience. He developed an approach that combines the accessibility and reach of an online gallery with the trust, scholarship, and personal relationships traditionally associated with the finest brick-and-mortar galleries.
Based in Los Angeles, Steven Stern Fine Arts serves collectors, estates, institutions, and private clients throughout the United States and abroad. Understanding that many clients have demanding schedules, Mr. Stern and his associates frequently travel to provide private showings, evaluate collections, and meet with individuals interested in consigning or selling important works of art.
“I have always believed in the future of the internet and its extraordinary ability to connect people,” says Mr. Stern. “At the same time, fine art is deeply personal. While technology allows us to reach collectors around the world, I believe the strongest relationships are still built face to face, through trust, knowledge, and personal service.”
Today, Steven Stern Fine Arts continues to offer collectors a carefully selected inventory of American paintings, with a focus on quality, authenticity, value, and long-term client relationships.
In addition to his work as an art dealer and advisor, Mr. Steven Stern has remained deeply committed to civic, cultural, and philanthropic engagement. Over the years, he has supported a wide range of charitable, medical, educational, and arts organizations, reflecting his belief that meaningful community involvement is an important part of both personal and professional responsibility.
Mr. Stern has been actively involved with and supportive of organizations including the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program, City of Hope, the Pasadena Museum of California Art, Los Angeles Team Mentoring, The Guardians, the Board of Governors of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. His support of these institutions reflects a broad commitment to medical research, children’s health, mentorship, education, and the preservation and promotion of the arts.
Mr. Stern is also closely connected to Southern California’s museum and cultural community. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Santa Monica History Museum and is a Trustee of the Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University. He is a member of the American Art Council at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, a member of the Jonathan Club of Los Angeles, and a member of the President’s Circle Avant-Garde at LACMA. He has also been associated with the San Diego Historical Society.
Through these affiliations, Mr. Stern continues to support institutions that preserve cultural heritage, advance public access to the arts, encourage historical scholarship, and strengthen the communities they serve.
