uNCHAINED VOICES

Unchained Voices is an annual art show that seeks to empower by displaying works of art and sharing the stories of incredible artists who reside in Colorado’s jails and prisons. The show is a collaborative effort created on behalf of incarcerated artists in Colorado. The Denver-based Unchained Voices committee is comprised of community members, forensic social workers, attorneys, and arts and criminal justice reform advocates

Unchained Voices’ events feature art and other works created by persons currently incarcerated at a jail or Colorado Department of Corrections facility. The proceeds from art sales are provided directly to the artist—to fulfill a need identified by the individual. These “needs” include both personal and charitable causes.

Unchained Voices 2025 Exhibition

Presented as part of

High Walls: Artists Navigate Structures of Confinement at RedLine Contemporary Art Center

Unchained Voices is proud to be a featured part of High Walls: Artists Navigate Structures of Confinement, a groundbreaking exhibition at RedLine Contemporary Art Center that confronts the impact of incarceration and uplifts the voices too often silenced behind prison walls. Curated by Katja Rivera, Sarah McKenzie, Geoffrey Shamos, and Tya Alisa Anthony, High Walls brings together a powerful collective of artists who engage with themes of confinement, surveillance, and the radical imagination.

As part of this collaboration, Unchained Voices will anchor one dedicated wall within the gallery space, highlighting the work of artists who are currently incarcerated artists in Colorado. The 2025 Unchained Voices exhibition centers around the theme “What I Value,” inviting artists to reflect on what matters most to them. Through painting, drawing, and mixed media and more, these artists reclaim space for self-expression, human connection, and personal truth.

All artwork represented by Unchained Voices is accessibly priced and available for purchase, with proceeds going directly back to the artists inside. This year’s exhibition can be visited in-person at Redline Contemporary Art Center, or under the “Exhibitions” page on this website with works for purchase. Unchained Voices is proud to stand alongside organizations and artists pushing for a more just and imaginative future. We invite you to witness, reflect, and engage with this powerful body of work.
