Growing up near Chicago, Donna Krueger was always drawn to beauty—whether the subject was art, architecture, fashion, or anything else that sparked her lively imagination. After graduating from the University of Illinois, she embarked on a successful career in the advertising world, honing her marketing skills for clients such as S. C. Johnson, Maybelline, Kraft Foods in Chicago and for Bank South, SunTrust and Coca-Cola in Atlanta.

In 2008—despite an economic downturn in the country that made opening a business seem like an unlikely idea—Donna saw a need and opportunity to showcase contemporary art in historic Marietta. With her characteristic vision, she transformed a cluttered antiques store into a loft-like art gallery where paintings and sculptures are displayed in a friendly and chic environment. Over the past decade, her eponymous business dk Gallery became a destination for both locals and savvy designers and architects, who appreciate the welcoming atmosphere, monthly cultural events, and art that’s both provocative and decorative. dk Gallery has been named Best Art Gallery in Atlanta by several media outlets over the years and the subject of the changing conversation of the Arts in Atlanta.

Donna is known for her relationship-building, linking artists with homeowners, gallery visitors with each other, and paintings with a new patron. “I love seeing firsthand the way that art changes and enhances people’s lives,” she says. “To witness the power of art day in and day out is a privilege.” Donna takes pride in traveling the country to find new artists, while also promoting the arts and design community here at home. Among her many community activities, she serves on the board of Cobb Community Foundation, Devereux Behavioral Health, Marietta Arts Council and WellStar Community Hospice Advisory Committee. She also is a member of liveSAFE Women of Achievement and Women of Power and Influence.

When she’s not working, Donna is likely to be spending time with her college sweetheart (and dk gallery co-owner) Kerry Krueger, her two grown children, and six grandchildren. She can be found hiking Kennesaw Mountain trails most days.
