Faustinus Deraet

Faustinus Deraet is a commercial and fine art photographer, born in Antwerp, Belgium who grew up in Mexico City. Commercially he has collaborated with Nui Organics, Iron Thread Design, Proyecto Teatro, TKO and Univision to name a few. Faustinus’ personal work has been shown in museums and galleries in several U.S. cities, Mexico, and Hungary, since 1993. He has two published books of photographs taken with Holga cameras-- one of Mexico and one of China. He has been published in Shots, Light Leaks, Austin Magazine, Tribeza, Nside and other magazines. Besides teaching photography to kids at Creative Action, Faustinus has given photography classes at the MACC, lectures at UT and ACC, acted as judge for Scholastic Art Competitions, and was named one of the Top 10 Artists to Watch For in 2004 by the Austin Chronicle. His photographs are part of The Wittliff Collections, Mexic-Arte Museum, and has also been acquired by several private collectors. He his currently working on his third book “El Subconsciente Chilango”
